“I began my Scouting journey as one of the first beavers of 12th Penarth back in 2013 when the group reopened, and my dad took on the role of Beaver Leader. I later transitioned to 1st Penarth for Scouts, where my dad was an assistant leader. During my time as a Scout, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, but fortunately, my group continued to meet online via Zoom and even organized a group camp. After the pandemic, I moved on to Explorers and joined Les Pugh’s Own ESU. Two years later, I felt the urge to help others and share the skills and knowledge I had gained. Since I lived nearby, I reached out to the closest group, which was 15th Cardiff on Sloper Road. About six months later, I reconnected with Andrew and Lorraine because the Scouts needed a leader with a Nights Away Permit for the All Wales Scout Camp 2024. I then began assisting at their group, 47th Cardiff, in Ely, and now I’ve taken on a Team Member role with the Scouts while continuing my own Scouting journey with Scout Network.” – Joshua
