Subscriptions

The subscription per young person is currently £20 per month (or £13 per month if you have more than one child in the Group) and is payable at the start of each month. (non charged months: August & December)

How to pay

Currently we accept Cash and Card payments, please pay this to your relevant section leader or our Treasurer: Chil (Andrew Davies)

Breakdown 

So where does this £200 (£130) per child go

1. Capitation – Every year we must pay a fee to Scouts UK to cover  national administration, volunteer training, and your child’s insurance. on top of this the Local Area (Cardiff and the Vale) and the District (Cardiff West) takes a small bit and in 2026 this costed around £66 per young person. – this leaves us with £134 (£64)  per young person.
2. Weekly Activities & Badges: This portion stays with the specific section (e.g., Beavers, Cubs, or Scouts) to pay for craft supplies, cooking ingredients, games equipment, and the cloth badges children earn.
3. Group Running Costs: The remainder goes into the group’s general charity fund to pay for the maintenance and utility bills of the local Scout HQ, as well as camping and activity equipment

Note: Subs usually cover standard weekly meetings, but extra events like weekend camps, trips, and major activities often require an additional one-off fee.
